WV Students Build Tiny Houses for Homeless

WVHS construction students are participating in a project to build a tiny house that will be used for transitional homeless housing. KREM 2 did a feature on Mr. Leinweber's class! It's very impressive what these students are accomplishing!

Twenty-two teams of students were selected by state's Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board to compete in the first ever CTE Showcase of Skills Homeless Shelter Project competition. The project brings together students from high school and college to demonstrate their technical skills as they build portable, energy efficient, homeless shelters. Each team has five students and received a $2,500 stipend to build the home. Instructor David Leinweber will tow the tiny house to Olympia where the students will spend seven hours today (Monday 3/27) putting the finishing touches on the tiny house. The houses will then be shipped to Seattle to be used as transitional homeless housing. Winners of the construction competition will be announced March 27. Good luck Eagles!
