We are excited to welcome our students back to school! This year, WVHS will host Freshman Orientation on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 26. The first half of the day will be dedicated exclusively to our incoming freshmen, providing them with a welcoming and supportive introduction to high school.
Freshman First-Day Experience
During the morning, freshmen will participate in:
- Welcome Assembly
- Small Group Mentoring
- Campus Tours
- Schedule Walk-Throughs of Their Classes
- Interactive Activities
- Lunch at School
Freshmen will have the opportunity to become familiar with the campus, meet other students and staff, learn about their schedules, and build confidence as they begin their high school experience.
Freshman Transportation
Students in 9th grade who ride the bus will be picked up at their regular bus stop at their normal pickup time on the first day of school. They will be returned home after school at their normal time and to their regular drop-off location.
Grades 10–12 Schedule
Students in grades 10–12 will arrive at school at 12:30 p.m. The afternoon schedule will consist of shortened periods beginning with Homeroom at 12:30 p.m. and ending at the regular dismissal time of 2:30 p.m.
Transportation for Grades 10–12
On the first day of school, students in grades 10–12 who ride the bus will be picked up four hours later than their normal pickup time and will use their regular bus stop.
For example, if a student's normal bus pickup time is 7:00 a.m., their first-day pickup time will be 11:00 a.m.
Students will be picked up and dropped off at their normal bus stop.
Breakfast and Lunch
- Freshmen: Breakfast and lunch will be provided at school on the first day.
- Grades 10–12: Students will not eat lunch at school on the first day due to the shortened afternoon schedule.
- All students: Normal breakfast and lunch schedules will resume on Thursday, August 27, the second day of school.
