****Scholarship Scams****

Every year, several hundred thousand students and parents are defrauded by scholarship scams.  The victims of these scams lose thousands, if not millions, of dollars collectively on an annual basis according to multiple sources.  Scam operations often imitate legitimate government agencies, grand-giving foundations, education lenders and scholarship matching services, using official-sounding names containing words like “National,” “Federal,” “Foundation,” or “Administration.”

In general, be wary of scholarships with an application fee, scholarship matching services who guarantee success, advance-fee loan scams and sales pitches disguised as financial aid “seminars.”

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Scholarship Opportunities are available on the Senior Spotlight page at wvsd.org and are posted on the Senior Wall outside the office.

If you have questions regarding any scholarships available, please stop by the counseling office and see Mrs. Cavanaugh.

Scholarships are awarded to someone….Why not YOU!!

If you have been accepted to a college and/or received  a scholarship offer please bring a copy of the letter to Mrs. Cavanaugh in the Student Services office.  We will proudly display your letter on our “College Wall” and we keep track of all scholarships offered/accepted.
