Information from our Principal -

With two weeks of virtual learning completed, I'm pleased to announce that things have, for the most part, gone much smoother than anticipated. Although, there have been some technology challenges and learning to teach through a new medium has presented some obstacles, through it all, the WVHS staff has been amazing. I'm proud to say that we've held true to our Mission and remained KIND, STRONG AND COMMITTED to the success of each and every WVHS student.

Even more impressive is how well our students are doing. I continue to hear stories from the staff exclaiming how proud they are of our kids and their resiliency. Every day, they keep showing up ready to learn and we can't ask for anything more. Much to our surprise, student daily attendance is extremely high. Thank you for your continued support and assistance.

Speaking of Attendance....

Please take a moment and look through the Attendance Flow Chart (pictured). Mrs. Stinger our Dean ("Queen") of Students has created this easy to follow graphic to assist students (and parents) easily understand what is expected and what to do in different situations.

West Valley High School is committed to student achievement and providing educational excellence, and we feel that regular attendance is essential for student success in our educational program. During virtual learning, our expectation is that all students attend live, Real Time Teaching sessions with their instructors and classmates daily. If you know in advance that there will be a conflict with your student attending all classes during the regularly scheduled school day or the attendance expectations in general, please call the office or contact your student’s counselor directly.

Two BIG Announcements:

On Thursday, September 24, the West Valley School District announced its plan for slowly and safely, bringing students back to school. Although it will be awhile before high school students are back in person, we are all very excited to begin the process of getting the kids back where they belong. Once again, WVHS will be offering the SAT (Seniors) and PSAT (Juniors) assessments this year free of charge for ALL 11th and 12th graders. The SAT will be administered on Wednesday, October 14th to Seniors. A letter was mailed home on Friday, September 25, with details regarding registration. Please keep an open eye for this letter and follow the instructions. The PSAT will be administered on January 26th to Juniors. Stay tuned for more information regarding this assessment. WVHS is committed to removing any/all barriers which keep our students from post secondary-experiences. We are extremely thankful to have such a generous and supporting School Board of Directors who believe and support this mission as well. If you have any questions regarding the SAT or PSAT assessments, please call WVHS at 922-5488 and ask to speak with Reghan Krestian.
