February is CTE Month
West Valley High School celebrated Career and Technical Education (CTE) month a little early this year. The culinary students made a delicious lunch for students, school staff and community members while a panel of CTE students talked about the programs. West Valley’s CTE programs provide students a hands-on learning environment as a direct pathway to careers and post-secondary education. The students on the panel talked about their experiences in robotics, culinary, construction and bio-medical as having a positive impact as they plan for their future.
At the end of the lunch, we presented Kennedie Krieger, Eli Anderson, Isaiah Crane and Cheyenne Dallman with their certificate for completing an industry recognized program in Foods and Nutrition. Precision Exams is used around the US to show proficiency in a CTE program giving them an edge on their resume. Students are encouraged to take classes like culinary even if that is not their ultimate career goal. Skills learned in the culinary program can provide a gateway into the culinary industry, a way to earn money in college or just be used to build a robust resume with skills used in all careers. Congratulations to these students for earning an award that shows your knowledge in food safety, time management and nutrition.
