The vision of the program is that any student who needs help can reach out to a trusted teacher or counselor to access the pantry to help fill... their needs. The inspiration behind the pantry came from a personal interaction Halle had with a friend. She realized that they were struggling to get assistance for food and she was moved to do something about it. She wanted to make a difference….and what a DIFFERENCE SHE HAS MADE.
During the past 3 Mentor classes there have been food collections from students, staff and parents. She is extremely proud to announce that, to date, there have been 1,150 items donated. It’s also important for our West Valley community to know that donations are welcome anytime during the year. Her long term dream is to make sure this is a sustainable pantry for years to come. You can drop off donations at the Main Office Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm.
Through Halle’s example, the life lesson all of us at WVHS have learned is “for it is in GIVING that we RECEIVE.” She truly is a SHINING STAR!
