WV Robotics Team Competed at the World Championships!
A Message from the Director, Eric Groshoff -
The WVHS robotics team -“CHUCK”- wants to thank the school board, district office, and the WVHS staff in supporting the students in the FIRST Robotics World Championship.
The team traveled to Houston, Texas where they competed with the top 400 teams from 39 countries around the world. Our division had teams from all over the US, Australia, Israel, Turkey, United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, and Switzerland.
After two days of tough qualifying matches the team made it to finals. This is an accomplishment we would have only dreamed about a few years back. Our robot alliance consisted of teams from South Carolina, Texas, and Utah. CHUCK performed at their best in the playoffs, but lost to a powerhouse team in the quarterfinals.
In addition to competition the team took advantage of Houston’s cultural opportunities. We experienced Texan hospitality, ate Texas BBQ, and were able to experience a true Texas-sized downpour! The students visited NASAs Johnson Space Center, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Houston Zoo, and the Downtown Aquarium. The highlights were walking through a Space Shuttle, touching the most complete T-Rex skeleton in the world, and observing Fabergé: Royal Gifts featuring the Trellis Egg Surprise.
Again… we want to thank the West Valley Community for your continued support!
